nursery progress

Saturday, March 6, 2010

well, with a little more than two weeks left until my estimated due date, i’m happy to say our nursery is almost finished. i still have a bit of sewing left to do, but everything else is assembled, washed, and ready. i’m not going to lie, i’m so excited.

i’ll be officially 38 weeks tomorrow. already full term, and, according to our doctor’s visit on friday, i’m already a good 1cm dilated and about 50% effaced. it’s pretty crazy to think about the fact that the baby i’ve been growing inside for all this time could have a birthday any time now. i hope it’s ready soon because we’re getting rather eager to meet him or her.

then, a whole new adventure will begin for us.

SO exciting! You’re at the exact gestation I was when Alex and Will were born–37w6d. 🙂 (Scheduled induction.) Everything looks great!

By the way, what kind of cloth diapers/covers are those?

on top of the drawer with the cloth wipes that i sewed myself are thirsties duo wraps (size one), an organic cotton imse vimse (the striped one), and a bunch of hemp babies doublers that i can trifold and shove into pockets or line a prefold with. in the dresser drawer are a mixture of little lion and green mountain diaper prefolds (the orange-edged ones are green mountain). the wool cover you can see is by sustainablebabyish. the fitteds are a mixture of muttaquin baby and sustainablebabyish. the pocket diapers are thirsties duo diapers (size one), small blueberries, and an applecheeks (size one). 😀

in the diaper bag are two muttaquin baby all-in-ones. i’m not sure if i’ll be able to cloth diaper in the hospital or not, but we’re going to go prepared just in case!

ooh, word of advice, skip the cloth until the little one is done pooping out the tarry black poo. (I forget what that’s called now). It’s super sticky nastiness and just not worth the hassle to try to wash out. That’s just IMHO though. 🙂

thanks for the reminder! i’ve heard it washes out pretty well. i was planning on using fleece liners in prefolds under a cover, but we’ll see how things go. if it’s pretty gross, i probably won’t want to be messing with it. 😀
