12-19 but the view is nice

12-19 snowdrift view from the back door

12-19 this is actually quite a large trash can

9:30 am. the view from our back door before i threw the dog out to go pee. he couldn’t hold it anymore and i am very confident he had NO idea what he was getting himself into. at all. in fact, when i opened the door, he balked. i gave him a not-so-gentle nudge in the direction of outside and he fell face-first into about 8-10 inches of snow. oh, the shocked surprise of his fumbling to find footing was awesome.

12-19 giving in

of course, i was appropriately dressed for the arctic conditions in my penguin pajamas.

once inside, i also took a shot of the view out our front door. instead of watching tv, hubby and i also spent some time watching some of our neighbors attempt to drive in the unplowed snow of our parking lot. it was ridiculously hilarious. one neighbor attempted to leave for over 20 minutes, driving back and forth, swerving and practically spinning out of control until he got himself stuck, shoveled himself out, and then gave up. in order for this neighbor to prove his masculinity to the snow, he then proceeded to convince another neighbor to let him drive his four-wheel drive truck. i believe his ego was eventually relieved when he finally made it up the hill and onto the main road in our townhouse complex. what happened to this neighbor afterward is unknown.

as for us, we’ve got leftover pizza in the fridge and plenty of movies to watch. there’s nothing to do outside except take the dog on some fun snow-filled walks later. neither of us have any interest in challenging the lynchburgian unfamiliarity of driving in the snow—even if we know how to, it’s pretty much guaranteed the locals don’t. we’d rather be safe and warm.
